Adaptive Technology

The Computer Accommodations Program offers the following adaptive technology-related services to members of the university community.

  • Guided exploration of adaptive technology solutions from low-tech to high-tech.
  • Adaptive technology training and skills enhancement.
  • Adaptive technology trouble-shooting and technical support.

CAP also works with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) to make adaptive applications available on machines in OIT Computer Facilities across the Twin Cities campuses.

CCTV A self-contained close-circuit monitor and camera system used to increase the size, contrast and brightness of text and other print materials placed under the camera. Built-in controls are available for adjusting image size, focus and a variety of both black/white and color video modes.
Sit/Stand Workstations VariTask E Series Workstations offer toggle switch controlled motor-driven height adjustment and an independent manually adjustable keyboard/mouse support. A 7500 Deluxe flat panel double-articulated radial arm adds additional adjustability.
Trackballs and Ergonomic Keyboards Technology designed and/or arranged to promote healthy, comfortable, and efficient interaction. Microsoft Natural Keyboards have a split, gently sloped shape that encourages natural hand, wrist and forearm positioning. Kensington Trackballs encourage natural hand positioning and reduce arm, shoulder and wrist movement. A top-mounted ball allows easy fingertip or mouth-pointer control and precision pointing. Their symmetrical design fits both left- and-right-handed users and all hand sizes.
