How to Register
Registration establishes a relationship with our office to start exploring accommodations. The Disability Resource Center offers two options to register, Maroon and Gold. Scroll down or click on the Maroon and Gold options to learn about the option that is the best fit for you. If you have questions email [email protected].
Follow these steps:
- Fill Out the student information form. This link includes the registration agreement and confidentiality policy. This may take 5-20 minutes.
- Upload Documentation (required for Maroon option. Check our documentation guidelines to make sure your documentation meets the requirements.
- Complete your next steps.
- If you choose the Maroon option, you will receive additional questions by email. Reply to that email with your responses.
- If you choose the Gold option, you will get a follow up email to schedule your 30-minute meeting.
DRC staff will review your form and respond within 5 business days.
Gold Option
The Gold option includes a 30 minute meeting with an access consultant. This is the most interactive way to connect with the DRC. The access consultant can assist you in exploring what accommodations are possible, share resources on campus, and discuss DRC processes.
The Gold option is best if you:
- Are unsure which accommodations you need
- Would like to explore accommodations other than those listed in the Maroon option
- Do not have documentation yet
- Would like to discuss your access needs with an access consultant
How it works:
- Fill out forms online.
- Upload your documentation. (It is not required for the first meeting, but helps your access consultant prepare for your meeting).
- You will get a follow up email to schedule your 30-minute meeting.
- Schedule and attend a 30-minute meeting with an access consultant.
- The meeting can be done by Zoom, phone, or in-person.
- The consultant will discuss your needs and identify reasonable accommodations.
NOTE: Some academic programs require a meeting with an access consultant. Some examples include, but are not limited to:
- Medical and Nursing Programs
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- PharmD Program
- Veterinary Medicine
- Law
- Program of Mortuary Science
- Dentistry
- College in the Schools
Maroon Option
This option is best if you want to explore only the specified accommodations listed below at this time and you have documentation. If you do not have documentation, please follow the Gold Option. The Maroon Option does not include a 30 minute meeting, all initial communication primarily occurs via email.
The Maroon option is best if you:
- Have used accommodations and feel clear about what accommodations you need.
- Need accommodations available through the Maroon Option.
- Have documentation.
- Do not need to meet with an access consultant. The Maroon Option is conducted via email.
How it works:
- Fill out forms online.
- Upload your documentation.
- Respond to the email you receive with additional questions about your accommodation needs.
- DRC staff will review your request and respond in 5-7 business days.
- If your accommodations are approved, you’ll get an official accommodation letter with instructions. Your DRC access consultant will be your main contact going forward. Going forward, you and your access consultant can schedule a meeting at any time.
Maroon Option Accommodations
- Testing accommodations:
- Extended test time: 1.25x
- Extended test time: 1.5x
- Semi-private testing space
- Note-taking accommodations:
- Ability to audio record lectures
- Access to presentation slides in advance, or soon thereafter
- Classroom materials provided in advance
- Classroom support:
- Breaks to leave the classroom
- Access to fidgets
- Access to food, beverages, or supportive devices
- Class scheduling/class time of day:
- Priority registration
- Reduced course load

- Why are some accommodations not included in the Maroon option?
- Accommodations available through the Maroon option typically do not compromise course learning objectives. Other accommodations are more nuanced. They may require an access consultant to have a deeper understanding of your access needs, and/or to consult with faculty about essential course requirements.

- Do I have to renew my registration each semester?
- You do not have to renew your registration, but you do need to renew your accommodation letter each semester. You can do this by connecting with your access consultant. Emails are sent to all registered DRC students with announcements, including instructions on renewing your letter.

- I started the registration process, but I never heard back. What should I do?
- Make sure you have fully submitted your Student Information Form. There is a final submit button at the end of the review page.
- If you have fully submitted your form and have not received a response within five business days, please email [email protected].
- Check your spam folder, as the response email may have been delivered there in error.
- I’m not sure if I want to or should register. Is there anyone I can talk to before registering?
- Drop-in is available Monday through Friday, 11am - 12pm and 2pm - 3pm for a 15 minute consultative conversation with one of our access consultants.
