How to Register

The Disability Resource Center provides accommodations for students who experience disability-related academic barriers. The interactive process begins when you contact our office.

  1. Contact The Disability Resource Center (DRC) at 612-626-1333
Current and prospective University of Minnesota students should call the DRC to schedule an initial appointment with an access consultant.  Once you schedule an initial appointment, you will receive a follow up email from the DRC with an electronic Welcome Packet.
  2. Obtain documentation
If you have documentation that describes your disability, please bring it to the initial appointment or have it faxed to the DRC at 612-626-9654. Please come to your appointment as scheduled even if you do not have documentation, as the DRC may be able to assist you in obtaining it.
  3. Attend initial appointment
You and your access consultant will discuss how your disability impacts your academic experience.  If reasonable accommodations are appropriate for you, they will be outlined in a letter for your instructors.
  4. Share accommodation letter
Share your accommodation letter with each instructor to begin the interactive process of determining which accommodations will be appropriate in your courses and how they will be implemented.
  5. Connect with your access consultant
If you or your instructors have any questions or concerns about your accommodations, contact your access consultant. If you wish to use accommodations in subsequent semesters, contact your access consultant to request an updated letter.
